Matt Broadfoot Sound
Re-recording Mixer, Sound Designer, Sound Editor & Sound Engineer.
“I was the lead producer and co-director of the short film "Kidwalker," which Matt Broadfoot was recently the sound editor for. I worked very closely with Matt over the course of several months of post-production, and I can readily note that Matt is one of the most reliable and talented people I have worked with. His excellence in the field of sound editing was displayed throughout the process, as he was always two steps ahead and knew exactly what to get done and how to do so. I was also very
impressed with the nuance of his work, and diligent attention to detail. But most importantly, as I mentioned before but bears repeating, Matt
was extremely reliable throughout, always responding to every email in a timely and thorough manner. His upbeat and positive energy makes him a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend Matt to anyone looking for a sound editor, and I look forward to working with him again in the future.”
Doug Roland
Director (Kidwalker)
“Working with Matt is great and uncomplicated. I used his work for two short films and each time, I was highly satisfied. He is fast, professional, and efficient. Matt fixed audio bumps and other sound issues which raised the production value considerably. Talented sound editors are a blessing for independent filmmakers who have to work with a small budget and sometimes rough production circumstances. Matt not only fixed sound issues, he also leveled dialog, enhanced sound effects and mixed the various sound tracks. I highly recommend Matt and hope to work with him on feature projects!”

“In fall of 2010, I had the pleasure of working with Matt Broadfoot. My ad seeking a sound designer was posted at 5:32 am and 45 mins later, I received a response from Matt Broadfoot. He was the first responder to the ad, and out of 51 applicants in a 3-day span, the chosen one. Broadfoot’s work stood out significantly, and the work that he delivered strongly reinforced the talent that he showed on his reel as well as possessed. I pitched the sound as being the worst, and he was confident that he could bring it to its best. The final product exceeded my expectations.
Broadfoot is a go-getter and easy to work with. He responded promptly to all of my emails. His diligent and fast paced workflow allowed time for minor tweaks & approval well before the completion deadline given to him. His work does not stop at what he is asked to do, but goes even further if something is needed. He takes great pride in his work, and therefore, does not stop until the job is finished.
I strongly recommend Matt Broadfoot to anyone that seeks great outcome & a successful collaboration.”
Vanessa Bateau
Director (The Burtons)
“I first worked with matt when he saved my ass on a project that was way behind schedule. He's a pleasure to work with on set and off. His attention to detail and command of the technology left me the freedom to focus on other aspects of my production, and the charming accent doesn't hurt.”

"It is with great pleasure that I recommend Matt for your consideration. I recently
had the privilege of collaborating with him on the professional audio mixing for
my short film, "Chocolate Darlin'."
Matt consistently impressed me with his efficient and responsive communication.
Despite the transatlantic time difference, he ensured prompt replies to my
inquiries, always responding within a day. His technical expertise in audio
engineering was particularly evident in his ability to salvage a near-unusable
audio section and integrate it seamlessly into the film's soundscape.
Matt's collaborative spirit and openness to feedback were invaluable. He readily
embraced even the most detailed or nuanced adjustments, while also offering
insightful suggestions that will benefit my future projects.
In conclusion, Matt's talent and dedication as a sound designer make him a highly
valuable asset. I have no reservations about recommending him for your team."

"As our Sound Designer. Mr. Broadfoot was responsible for every aspect of sound, from clean-up to all sound foley. Technically he has one of the best ears I’ve come across. He understood the pace and atmosphere for this film so well that we needed very minimal revisions."
L.A. Lopes
Director (Contention)
"Matthew was great at mixing. My project required not only mixing skills but also creative interpretation. He did a wonderful job of understanding what was needed and putting that into action."
Deja Lyte

“Matt is an efficient and talented sound designer and mixer. It was easy to communicate with him and the quality we got back was fantastic, even for a complex action project like ours. Everything went smoothly and he met our every need. Not to mention that this was all done for a 48-Hour Film Project which means he knocked it out of the park like that even under the time constraints and pressure of a timed competition! I would happily work with him again and recommend him to anyone looking for a post-sound badass!”

“Matt saved our butts on this short film - he came in on short notice and took over mixing and sound design duties for the home stretch... this included repairing noisy audio files, creating new sound elements, and even a short musical element. He was very communicative, responded quickly, explained everything we had questions about, and delivered files in a tidy package with all the different applications laid out and easy to understand for whoever needed to handle deliverables. He was professional and a pleasure to work with, and I'd absolutely hire him again.”

"I had the pleasure of working with Matt, who served as the sound editor and mixer on Bad Fences (2025), a dark comedy short film I directed. From our very first conversation, Matt brought a high level of professionalism, care, and creative insight to the project. He has a deep understanding of how sound can elevate storytelling, and his thoughtful approach made a clear and lasting impact on
the final film.
Throughout post-production, Matt demonstrated not only deep technical expertise but also a strong appreciation for how sound shapes narrative, tone, and audience experience. He approached each scene with precision and sensitivity—carefully balancing dialogue, effects, and music to enhance both the emotional and comedic beats of the story.
What truly stood out was Matt’s flexibility and commitment to the process. He was highly receptive to multiple rounds of feedback and quick to implement adjustments, always maintaining a positive, can-do attitude. Despite working within a tight timeline, Matt stayed on schedule and never compromised on quality—ensuring we met our deadline while preserving the integrity and nuance of the sound design.
Perhaps most importantly, Matt is a joy to work with. He is calm under pressure, communicative, and solutions-oriented. He brought a sense of confidence and ease to post-production, and his collaborative spirit made him a trusted and valued creative partner throughout.
I would absolutely work with Matt again—and sincerely hope to do so on my next film. I recommend him without hesitation to any filmmaker or team looking for top-tier sound work, professionalism, and a truly collaborative experience."

"Working with Matt was the smoothest post-production sound edit experience our team has ever experienced. He elevated our project with attention to nuance in story, worked efficiently on our budget scope, and made our short film a strong contender at film festival market. Already looking forward to engaging with him again!"
Jessica Lauren Richmond

"Matt was an essential part of postproduction. His knowledge and professionalism with rerecording, sound design and sound editing meant that collaborating with him was very smooth. Audio problems spawned during on set filming were quickly identified and rectified in his studio. Matt’s initiatives and ideas enhanced my project considerably, contributing to its melancholic and somber mood, which enabled in the delivering of a picture that I had envisioned. Matt’s process, preparedness and patience made him a real pleasure to work with! He's a brilliant man. He genuinely cared for my film, and I am already looking forward to working with him on the next one. And the one after that..."

“As a sound editor, designer and re-recording mixer on the short film “Sage Hen,” Matt demonstrated exceptional professionalism, great communication, and respectful collaboration. He was knowledgeable and insightful while working on this project. He exceeded expectations and delivered a quality sound design that helped to elevate the final tone of the film. I highly recommend Matt for any future film projects “

"Regarding my collaboration with Mr. Broadfoot - we collaborated briefly earlier this year, from May to July, when I asked him to do a professional sound mix for my senior project. A horror film that runs 25 minutes long and contains multiple elaborate effects, musical sequences and many layers of sound design. As a student this was my first time working with a sound mixer in a professional capacity, and Matt was very mindful of this fact. He made things easy for me. For that reason I will always remember him as a generous collaborator.
As for the work itself I was immensely satisfied with the end results. Most of the audio that I had sent him was recorded on cheap, old and/or faulty equipment, and he was able to work miracles with material that I felt was incredibly inconsistent. He made the dialogue crisp and clear in places where I didn’t know if it ever would be. Furthermore he mixed the sound effects as well, in many cases constructing effects from scratch, and considering the genre of the piece there was plenty of room for him to be creative. Perhaps most importantly however he was also a very easy person to communicate with. For his part he was always punctual in responding and clear about what he needed and why. On my end I appreciated how well he took notes and was willing to rework things that needed it.
For the most part Matt worked by himself: he would send me a new cut every time there was progress and I’d send him notes back. I was very pleasantly surprised by how quickly the whole process flew by, especially considering the level of work that was produced. My time working with Matt was brief but harmonious. I would happily work with him again. "
